Enoch tells his son Methuselah to keep the books and pass them down. He says wisdom is important and will please those who understand it. He talks about the 364-day year and how it's divided. He explains the stars and their leaders, who control the seasons and months. He lists the names of these leaders and their roles. He describes the signs of each season, like heat, fruit growth, and harvest. He mentions the leaders who oversee these seasons and their helpers.
And now, my son Methuselah, I am telling you and writing down all these things for you. I have shown you everything and given you books about all of them. So, my son Methuselah, keep the books that I, your father, have given you, and make sure you pass them on to future generations.
I have given you wisdom, and to your children, and to their children after them, so that they can pass it down to future generations. This wisdom is beyond their understanding.
Those who understand it will stay awake and listen carefully to learn this wisdom. It will satisfy those who follow it more than good food does.
Blessed are all who do what is right, and blessed are those who live rightly without doing wrong like sinners. This blessing is for every day of their lives, as the sun moves across the sky, entering and leaving the gates for thirty days with the leaders of the star groups, along with the four extra days that divide the four seasons of the year.
Because of these, people will make mistakes and not include them in the full count of the year. Yes, people will be mistaken and not recognize them accurately.
These stars are used to calculate the year and are permanently recorded as such. One star is in the first gateway, one in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth. This makes the year a total of three hundred and sixty-four days.
Uriel has shown and explained to me the exact and accurate records of the luminaries, months, festivals, years, and days. The Lord of all creation has put the heavenly host under his authority.
He controls day and night in the sky, making the sun, moon, and stars shine for people, along with all the heavenly bodies that move in their circular paths.
These are the rules for the stars, showing when they rise, set, and mark seasons, festivals, and months.
These are the names of the leaders who make sure the stars enter at the right times, in the correct order, seasons, months, periods of rule, and positions.
The four leaders who divide the four seasons go in first. Then come the twelve leaders who divide the months. For the 360 days, there are leaders who divide each day. And for the four extra days, there are leaders who mark the divisions of the year.
These leaders oversee groups of a thousand and are placed between other leaders, each at their own station. Their leaders divide them into groups. These are the names of the leaders who divide the four seasons of the year: Milki'el, Hel'emmelek, Mel'ejal, and Narel.
Adnar'el, Ijasusa'el, and Elome'el are the leaders of these groups. These three follow the leaders of the orders, and there is one that follows the three leaders of the orders which come after the leaders of the stations that mark the four seasons.
At the start of the year, the star Melkejal appears first and takes charge. It's also called Tam'aini and is associated with the sun. It rules for a total of ninety-one days.
In the days of his rule, these are the signs that will appear on earth: sweat, heat, and calm weather. All trees will bear fruit and produce leaves, and the wheat harvest, roses, and all other flowers will bloom in the fields. But the trees that are meant for winter will wither.
The leaders under them are named Berka'el, Zelebs'el, and another who is in charge of a thousand, named Hilujaseph. This leader's time in power is over.
The next leader after him is Hel'emmelek, also known as the shining sun, and all the days of his light last ninety-one days.
Here are the signs of his days on earth: intense heat and dryness, trees bearing ripe fruit, sheep mating and becoming pregnant, and all crops being harvested. This happens during his time of rule.
These are the names, ranks, and leaders of the thousand-star groups: Gida'ijal, Ke'el, and He'el, and the additional leader Asfa'el. His time in charge is now over.
