Enoch saw seven mountains full of fragrant plants. He traveled over these mountains to the east, passing over a sea and an angel named Zotiel. He reached a place called the Garden of Righteousness. There, he saw many large, beautiful, and fragrant trees. Among them was a special tree of wisdom. This tree was tall, with leaves like a carob tree and fruit like grape clusters. The tree's scent spread far. Enoch thought the tree was very beautiful. Raphael, the angel with him, explained that this was the tree of wisdom. Adam and Eve ate from it, gained wisdom, realized they were naked, and were then expelled from the garden.
I looked north over the mountains and saw seven mountains full of fine nard, fragrant trees, cinnamon, and pepper.
I traveled across the tops of all these mountains, far to the east, and crossed over the Red Sea, going far beyond it, and passed by the angel Zotiel.
I arrived at the Garden of Righteousness and saw beyond those trees many large, fragrant trees. They were beautiful and glorious. Among them was the tree of wisdom, from which people eat and gain great wisdom.
That tree is as tall as a fir, with leaves like those of a carob tree. Its fruit looks like grape clusters and is very beautiful. The fragrance of the tree spreads far and wide.
Then I said, "What a beautiful tree! It looks so appealing!"
Raphael, the holy angel with me, explained: 'This is the tree of wisdom. Your ancestors, who lived before you, ate from it. They gained wisdom, realized they were naked, and were expelled from the garden.'
