Chapter LXXX Summary
The angel Uriel tells Enoch that he has shown him everything he needed to see. He has revealed the sun, the moon, the leaders of the stars, and their tasks and times. In the days of the sinners, the years will be shortened. Their crops will grow slowly. Everything on earth will change and not happen at the right time. The rain will stop, and the sky will hold it back. The fruits of the earth and the trees will not grow when they should. The moon will change its pattern and not appear when it should. The sun will be seen in the evening, traveling in the west, and it will shine brighter than it should. Many leaders of the stars will not follow their usual paths. They will change their orbits and tasks and not appear at their usual times. The order of the stars will be hidden from the sinners. People on earth will be confused about the stars. They will be changed from their usual ways. People will be misled and think the stars are gods. The nature and the heavenly bodies will be altered because of the sins of men.
And in those days, the angel Uriel answered and said to me, 'Look, Enoch, I have shown you everything. I have revealed all of this to you so that you can see the sun, the moon, the leaders of the stars in the sky, and all those who control them. You have seen their tasks, their times, and their departures.'
2In the time of the wicked, the years will become shorter. Their crops will grow slowly, and everything on earth will change, happening out of its usual time. Rain will not fall as it should, and the sky will hold it back.
3In those days, the earth's crops will be late and won't grow when they should. The fruit from trees will also be delayed and won't appear at the right time.
4The moon will change its usual pattern and won't appear when it should.
5In those days, the sun will be seen traveling in the evening on the far side of the great chariot in the west, shining more brightly than usual.
6Many leaders among the stars will break the rules. They will change their paths and duties, and won't show up when they're supposed to.
7The stars' patterns will be hidden from those who do wrong. People on Earth will be confused about them, change their understanding, and even start to worship them as gods.
8The corruption of nature and the disturbances in the heavenly bodies are consequences of human sin.
