* The
Azimuthal Equidistant projection maps all points on Earth so that their distances and directions from the center point are accurate.
The projection preserves true scale and azimuth along every straight line radiating outward.
It is often used for radio propagation, air route planning, and polar maps. In this projection, meridians are straight lines from the center, and parallels are concentric circles. The entire world can be shown on a circular map if centered appropriately, such as the well-known UN emblem.
* Sometimes AE projection is called “flat Earth map” because when centered on the North Pole, the Azimuthal Equidistant projection lays the world onto a flat circular surface that resembles the way flat-Earth models depict the world.
* Planet and day/time locations are approximate.
