Since they knew God, they didn't give him the praise he deserved nor showed gratitude. Instead, they thought up silly ideas and their minds got confused.
"And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise."
So, after waiting patiently, he got the promised reward.
"Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness."
Or the one who encourages, do it through encouragement; the one who gives, do it simply; the one who leads, do it with care; the one who shows kindness, do it happily.

I fell to the ground, my body went limp, and my spirit changed. I cried out loudly, filled with power, and praised, glorified, and honored.
