Chapter LX🇪🇸🇷🇺🇮🇳🇨🇳Enoch

Chapter LX Summary

In the year five hundred, on the fourteenth day of the seventh month, Enoch saw a great quaking in the heavens. The angels, numbering in the thousands, were disturbed. The Head of Days sat on His throne, surrounded by angels and the righteous. Enoch was frightened and fell to the ground. Michael, an angel, helped him up and told him not to be afraid, as the day of mercy was still ongoing. Michael explained that a day of judgment was coming for those who did not follow the righteous law and denied the righteous judgment. On that day, two monsters, Leviathan and Behemoth, would be separated. Leviathan, the female monster, would dwell in the ocean's depths, and Behemoth, the male monster, would occupy a wilderness called Duidain. Enoch asked to see the might of these monsters and was told that he was seeking to know what is hidden. Another angel showed Enoch the workings of the heavens, the earth, and the ends of the heaven. He saw the chambers of the winds, how the winds were divided and weighed, and the portals of the winds. He also saw the divisions of the stars, the thunders, and the lightnings. The angel explained how the thunder and lightning work together, driven by the spirit. The spirit of the sea is strong and draws the sea back with a rein. The spirit of the hoar-frost, hail, snow, mist, dew, and rain each have their own chambers and angels. The spirit of the rain is led out by angels and diffuses over the earth, uniting with the water on the earth. Enoch saw these things towards the Garden of the Righteous. The angel of peace with him said that the two monsters, prepared by God, would feed on the day of judgment. The punishment of the Lord of Spirits would come, but it would be according to His mercy and patience. The judgment would be fair and not in vain.

Verse 1

In the five hundredth year, on the fourteenth day of the seventh month, during Enoch's lifetime, I saw in a vision the heavens above shaking violently. The armies of the Most High and countless angels were greatly disturbed.

Verse 2

The Ancient of Days sat on His glorious throne, with angels and the righteous standing around Him.

Verse 3

A great trembling took hold of me, and I was filled with fear. My strength gave way, and I collapsed onto my face. Then Michael sent another angel from the holy ones, who lifted me up. Once I was up, my spirit returned, as I hadn't been able to bear the sight of this host, the commotion, and the shaking of the heavens. Michael said to me, 'Why are you troubled by this vision? The day of His mercy has lasted until now. He has been merciful and patient with those who live on the earth.'

Verse 6

When the day of judgment comes, which the Lord of Spirits has prepared for those who don't follow His righteous laws, deny His justice, and misuse His name, it will be a day of covenant for the chosen ones but a day of reckoning for the wicked.

Verse 7

On that day, two creatures were separated: a female creature named Leviathan, to live in the ocean's depths over the water's sources.

The male is named Behemoth. He lives in a barren wilderness called Dudain, east of the garden where the chosen and righteous people live. This is where my grandfather, the seventh descendant of Adam, the first man created by the Lord of Spirits, was taken up.

I asked the other angel to show me the power of those monsters, explaining how they were separated on one day, with one being cast into the depths of the sea and the other onto the dry land of the wilderness.

He said to me, "You, human, are trying to understand what is hidden."

The other angel who was with me and showed me what was hidden explained to me what is first and last in the highest heaven, what is beneath the earth in its depths, and what is at the ends of heaven and on its foundation.

Verse 12

The rooms where the winds are kept, how the winds are separated, how they are measured, and how the doors of the winds are counted, each according to the strength of the wind, and the strength of the moon's light, and according to what is fitting. Also, the groups of stars by their names, and how all the groups are divided.

Verse 13

And the thunders strike where they are sent, and the lightnings are divided so they can flash, and their groups respond immediately.

The thunder has specific resting places where it waits before it sounds. Thunder and lightning are always together, though they are not the same. They move together through the spirit and never separate.

Verse 15

When lightning flashes, thunder roars, and the spirit causes a pause between them, dividing the time equally. The store of thunder's sounds is vast like sand, and each sound is controlled and directed by the spirit to every part of the earth. The spirit of the sea is powerful and strong, pulling it back with a rein, and then driving it forward to spread among all the mountains of the earth.

Verse 17

The spirit of the frost is his own angel, and the spirit of the hail is a good angel.

Verse 18

The spirit of the snow has left its place because of its power. There is a special spirit in it, and what comes from it is like smoke, and it is called frost.
