Psalms 11

In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

I believe in the LORD; why do you tell my soul to run like a bird to a mountain?

For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

Be careful, because wicked people are preparing their bows and arrows to secretly attack honest people.

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

If the basic things are ruined, how can good people act?

The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

The LORD is in His sacred place; He sits on a throne in heaven. He watches and examines all people closely.

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

God tests those who are good, but he hates the wicked and those who love violence.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

He will send down traps, fire, and terrible storms on bad people. This is what their cup of punishment will hold.

For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

The righteous LORD loves fairness; he looks at those who do what is right.
