Mark 15

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Early in the morning, the leaders met with important people and the whole council. They captured Jesus, took him away, and gave him to Pilate.

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

Pilate asked Jesus if He was the king of the Jews. Jesus replied by saying that Pilate himself had said it.

And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

The main priests blamed him for lots of things, but he didn't say anything in his defense.

And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

Pilate asked Jesus again, "Why don't you say anything? Look, so many people are testifying against you."

But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

But Jesus didn't say anything more, which amazed Pilate.

Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

At the festival, he let free one prisoner chosen by them, whoever they wanted.

And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

There was a person called Barabbas, tied up with others who rebelled with him, and he committed murder during the rebellion.

And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

The large crowd loudly asked him to do what he had always done for them.

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

But Pilate asked them, "Do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?"

For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

He understood that the main priests handed him over because they were jealous.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

But the main priests convinced the people to want Barabbas released instead.

And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

Pilate asked them again, "So, what do you want me to do with the person you call the King of the Jews?"

And they cried out again, Crucify him.

They shouted once more, "Crucify him!"

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

Then Pilate asked them, "What did he do wrong?" But they shouted even louder, "Crucify him!"

And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

So, Pilate wanted to make the people happy, so he let Barabbas go and handed over Jesus, after whipping him, to be put on a cross.

And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.

The soldiers took him to the Praetorium, a building, and gathered all their group there.

And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

They dressed him in purple clothes and made a crown of thorns to put on his head.

And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

People started saying to him, "Hello, King of the Jews!"

And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

They hit him on the head with a reed and spat on him, then they bowed down and worshiped him.

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Then, after making fun of him, they removed the royal robe and gave back his normal clothes. They then took him to a cross to execute him.

And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

They force a man named Simon from Cyrene, who is walking by and just left the countryside, to carry Jesus' cross. Simon is also the dad of Alexander and Rufus.

And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

They take him to a place called Golgotha, which means "skull place" when explained.

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

They offered him a mix of wine and myrrh to drink, but he didn't accept it.

And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

After they nailed Jesus to the cross, they divided his clothes, throwing dice to decide who would get which piece.

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

At 3 o'clock, they nailed him to the cross.

And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

The sign on his accusal read, "THE KING OF THE JEWS."

And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

They also crucify two thieves with him, one on his right side and the other on his left.

And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

The Bible passage came true when it said that he was considered among those who broke the rules.

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

People walking by made fun of him, shaking their heads and saying, "You're destroying the temple and then rebuilding it in just three days?"

Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

Save yourself and get off the cross.

Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

Similarly, the main priests made fun of him with the writers, saying, "He saved others, but he can't save himself."

Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

Let Jesus, the King of Israel, come down from the cross so we can see and believe. The others crucified with him insulted him.

And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

At 6 o'clock, the entire land became dark and stayed that way until 3 o'clock.

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

At the ninth hour, Jesus shouted loudly, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" meaning "My God, my God, why have you left me?

And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

Some bystanders, hearing it, said, "He's calling for Elijah."

And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

A person got a sponge with vinegar, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink. They said, "Leave him be. Maybe Elijah will come to save him."

And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

And Jesus shouted loudly and then breathed his last breath.

And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

The curtain in the temple tore apart from top to bottom.

And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

When the soldier nearby saw Jesus cry out like that and die, he said, "This person was truly God's son."

There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

There were women watching from a distance, including Mary Magdalene, Mary, mother of James and Joses, and Salome.

(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

When he was in Galilee, the man followed Jesus and helped him. Many other women also joined them on their journey to Jerusalem.

And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

And now, as evening arrived, since it was the preparation day - the day before the Sabbath.

Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

Joseph from Arimathia, a respected advisor waiting for God's kingdom, bravely approached Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.

And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

Pilate was surprised to see if Jesus was already dead. He asked the soldier to check if Jesus had been dead for some time.

And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

When Jesus learned from the centurion, he handed the body over to Joseph.

And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

He bought nice cloth, wrapped him in it, placed him in a cave carved from rock, and rolled a stone to the cave's entrance.

And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

Mary Magdalene and Mary, Joses's mom, saw where he was placed.
