And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the sight of the LORD; and he slew him. Judah's sons were Er, Onan, and Shelah. They were born to him from a Canaanite woman named Shua. However, Er, the oldest son, did something wrong in God's eyes, so God took his life away.
