And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.

Moses and Eleazar, the priest, collected gold from the leaders of thousands and hundreds and brought it to the meeting place for the people. They did this to help the children of Israel remember their special connection with God.
