Leviticus 26

Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

Do not create any idols or carved images. Don't set up any stone statues to worship them. I am the LORD, your God.

Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

"Observe my holy days and respect my sacred place; I am the Lord."

If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

If you follow my rules and obey my commands, and actually do them;

Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Then I'll provide rain at the right time, the land will produce food, and trees will give their fruits.

And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

Your grain harvest will go on until it's time for grape gathering, and from there straight to planting season. You'll have plenty of food to eat, and live peacefully in your land.

And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

I will bring peace to the land, so you can rest without fear. I'll remove dangerous animals and keep swords from harming you or your land.

And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

You will chase your enemies, and they will be defeated by your sword.

And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

If five of you go after a hundred people, a hundred of you can run away with ten thousand others. Your opponents will be defeated by your swords.

For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

Because I will honor you, give you many children, and increase your numbers. Also, I will keep my promise to you.

And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.

You will eat stored-up food and take out the old to make way for the new.

And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.

I will place my temporary home with you, and I won't hate you.

And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

I will be with you, and you will be mine, and I'll be your God.

I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

I am your God, who saved you from Egypt. I freed you from being slaves to others, broke your chains, and helped you stand tall.

But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;

But if you don't listen to me and don't follow all these rules;

And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:

If you disrespect my rules or hate my decisions, and won't follow all my commands, breaking our agreement.

I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

I will bring terror, sickness, and painful fever to you. These will harm your eyes and make your hearts sad. You'll plant seeds, but they'll be wasted because your enemies will eat them.

And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

I will oppose you, and you'll be defeated by others. Those who don't like you will rule over you, and you'll run away even if no one is chasing you.

And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

If you still don't listen to me after all this, I will punish you seven times more for your wrongdoings.

And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:

I will shatter your strength's arrogance, and turn your sky into iron, your land into brass.

And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.

Your energy will be wasted; your land won't give you more food, and the trees won't give you fruit.

And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

If you disobey me and don't listen, I will give you seven times more punishments for your wrongdoings.

I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.

I will bring wild animals that will take your children, harm your livestock, and decrease your population. Your roads will be empty and unused.

And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;

If you don't change for the better because of me and my teachings, and instead choose to go against me,

Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

Then I will do the opposite of what you expect, and punish you seven more times for your wrongdoings.

And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

I will cause a sword to harm you for breaking our agreement. When you gather in your cities, I will send sickness among you, and your enemies will capture you.

And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

"When I destroy your bread's support, ten women will make your bread together in one oven. They will give you back your bread by its weight, but you still won't be full."

And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;

If you still don't listen to me after all this, and instead choose to go against my guidance,

Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

Then I will do the opposite of what you expect, getting very angry at you. I will punish you seven times for your wrongdoings.

And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

You will eat your children's meat and also eat your daughters' meat.

And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

I will demolish your special places, remove your statues, and throw your dead bodies on top of the dead bodies of your false gods. I will deeply hate you.

And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.

I will destroy your cities and leave your holy places empty, and I won't enjoy the good smells you offer.

And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

I will make the land barren, and those who live there and oppose you will be shocked by it.

And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

I will send you away to different lands and bring trouble upon you with a sword. Your land will be empty and your cities will be abandoned.

Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.

Then the land will have its rest periods while you're away among your enemies, just like when it was uninhabited; during that time, the land will be at peace and enjoy its rest.

As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

As long as it remains uninhabited, it will be at peace; because you didn't observe the Sabbaths while living there.

And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

If there are still people alive among you, I will make their hearts weak in enemy lands. They will be scared like leaves shaking in the wind, and run away as if chased by a sword. No one has to chase them; they will just fall down.

And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

They will stumble over each other like people in front of a sword who are not being chased, and you won't be able to stand up to your opponents.

And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

You will be destroyed among non-believers, and the land of your foes will consume you.

And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

Those who remain will suffer for their wrongdoings in the lands of their enemies, and they will also suffer along with their ancestors' mistakes.

If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;

If they admit their wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of their ancestors, along with the mistakes they made against me, and that they have gone against my ways;

And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:

If I've gone against them and led them to their enemies' land, and if their hearts, without being circumcised, become humble and they accept the punishment for their wrongdoing, then...

Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Then I will recall my promise to Jacob, as well as to Isaac, and also to Abraham, and I will remember the land.

The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.

The land will be abandoned by them and rest during their Sabbaths, while they are empty without them. They will suffer the consequences of their sins because they disregarded my rules and their souls hated my teachings.

And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.

Even if they are in enemy territory, I won't abandon them or dislike them so much that I completely ruin them and break my promise to them, because I am the LORD, their God.

But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.

But I will remember the promise for their ancestors, who I led out of Egypt in front of others, so I can be their God. I am the Lord.

These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

These are the rules, decisions, and laws that God made with the Israelites at Mount Sinai through Moses's guidance.
