A prophet runs from God's call to preach to Nineveh but learns about mercy when the city repents.

Chapter 4

KJV - Jonah 4:5

So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.

Jonah left the city and sat on its east side. He built a shelter and stayed under it in the shade. He watched to see what happened to the city.
