Galatians 5

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Stay firm in the freedom that Christ has given us, and don't get caught up in rules that bind you again.

Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

Look, I am Paul, and I tell you: if you are circumcised, then Christ will not bring you any benefits.

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

I'm saying once more to everyone who has been circumcised: you owe it to follow all of God's rules.

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Christ doesn't help you anymore if you rely on the law for salvation; you have lost your place in God's grace.

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

We wait for goodness through the Spirit using trust.

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

In Jesus, whether you are circumcised or not doesn't matter. What truly counts is having faith that leads to love.

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

You were doing well; who stopped you from following the truth?

This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.

This idea doesn't come from the person who is calling you.

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

A small amount of yeast changes the entire batch.

I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

I trust in the Lord that you will not have different thoughts. Anyone who causes you trouble will face consequences, no matter who they are.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

And I, my friends, if I still teach circumcision, why do I still face persecution? Then, has the offense caused by the cross ended?

I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

I wish those causing you problems were removed.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

For brothers and sisters, you were called to freedom; don't misuse freedom to satisfy your selfish desires, but instead, use love to serve others.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

The whole law is completed with this one rule: Love your neighbor just like you love yourself.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

But if you hurt and eat up each other, watch out so you don't destroy each other.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

I'm saying this: Follow the Spirit's guidance, and you won't give in to your selfish desires.

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

The body desires go against the Spirit, and the Spirit goes against the body. They are opposites, so you can't do what you want.

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

But if you follow the Spirit's guidance, you don't have to follow the rules strictly.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Now, it is clear what the sinful actions are: They include adultery, sexual immorality, impurity, and lustful behavior.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Idol worship, magic, hate, disagreements, jealousy, anger, fights, rebellions, false teachings.

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Jealousy, killings, drunkenness, wild parties, and similar actions: I've warned you about these before, just like I mentioned them earlier, people who do these things won't enter God's kingdom.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

But the Spirit's result is love, happiness, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trust, and so on.

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Gentleness and self-control: nobody has any rules against these things.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Christ's followers have put to death their earthly desires and passions.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

If we live guided by the Spirit, we should also act guided by the Spirit.

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Let's not want to show off needlessly, or make each other jealous by wanting what others have.
