2 Chronicles 15

And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

And God's Spirit filled Azariah, son of Oded.

And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

He went to talk to Asa and said, "Listen, Asa, and all of Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is on your side as long as you follow him. If you search for him, you'll find him, but if you turn away from him, he will turn away from you."

Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

For a long time, Israel has not had the real God, a teaching priest, or any laws.

But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

But when they faced troubles, they turned to the God of Israel and searched for him, and he revealed himself to them.

And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

In those days, neither those who left nor those who arrived found peace. Everyone in the lands faced major troubles.

And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

One nation would destroy another, and one city would destroy another because God caused them to face many problems and difficulties.

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

Be strong and don't let your hands be weak because your hard work will be rewarded.

And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

When Asa heard Oded's message, he became brave and removed all the disgusting idols from Judah and Benjamin, as well as from the cities he captured from mount Ephraim. He then restored the Lord's altar, which was in front of the Lord's porch.

And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

He brought together all of Judah and Benjamin, along with non-native people from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon. They joined him because they saw that God was with him in great numbers.

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

They all came to Jerusalem in the third month during Asa's 15th year as king.

And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

At the same time, they gave to God the stolen goods they got, including 700 cows and 7,000 sheep.

And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

They agreed to search for the one true God, just like their ancestors, with their entire heart and soul.

That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Anyone who does not search for the God of Israel should be killed, no matter if they are young or old, or male or female.

And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

They promised God loudly, with shouts, trumpets, and horns.

And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.

Everyone in Judah was very happy when they made a promise. They promised with all their heart and really wanted to find him. They found him and the Lord gave them peace everywhere.

And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

About Maachah, Asa's mom and queen, he took away her title because she made an idol in a forest. Asa then destroyed the idol by cutting it down, stamping on it, and burning it at the Kidron stream.

But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

But Israel's high places weren't removed: still, Asa's heart was always good during his life.

And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

He brought to God's house the items his dad had given and what he gave himself - silver, gold, and objects.

And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

During Asa's rule, there was no war for fifty years.
