Stanley McChrystal (born August 14, 1954) is a retired United States Army general who commanded the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) from 2003 to 2008 and served as the commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) from June 2009 to June 2010. McChrystal is known for his expertise in counterinsurgency and special operations. He gained prominence for his leadership in the War on Terror, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan.
