Prophecy numbers, also known as prophetic numbers or biblical numerology, refer to the significance attributed to numbers in religious texts, particularly within the context of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. These numbers are often believed to hold symbolic or mystical meanings, revealing divine messages or foretelling future events. In Hebrew, the concept can be translated as מספרי נבואה (misparim n'vu'ah). Similarly, in Arabic, it may be referred to as أرقام النبوءة (arqām al-nubuwwah). Key numbers in prophetic traditions include seven, representing completion or perfection, and twelve, symbolizing divine governance or tribal organization. The study of prophecy numbers is deeply rooted in the interpretation of sacred texts, where numerical patterns are seen as a means of understanding God's plan or communicating divine will.
