Pepperoni Pizza

Pepperoni pizza is a popular variety of pizza, particularly in the United States, that is topped with sliced pepperoni, a type of spicy salami. The term pepperoni is derived from the Italian word for pepper, peperone, which refers to a type of chili pepper. In Hebrew, pepperoni pizza is known as פיצה פפרוני (pitsa peperoni). In Italian, it is referred to as pizza al salame piccante or simply pizza al pepperoni, although the latter is less common as the Italian pepperoni is different from the American pepperoni. Pepperoni pizza is typically made with tomato sauce, cheese, and sliced pepperoni, which is usually laid on top of the cheese to prevent it from becoming soggy. It is often baked at high temperatures to achieve a crispy texture for the pepperoni. This pizza variety is a staple in many pizzerias and is widely available in frozen food sections of supermarkets.
