Peace is a state of harmony, the absence of hostility, and the existence of healthy or newly healed interpersonal or international relationships, safety in matters of social or economic behavior, and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups. The term is associated with a state of psychological or spiritual calm despite the potential presence of a stressor or social circumstance. In Hebrew, peace is translated as שלום (shalom), which also encompasses concepts of wholeness, completeness, and welfare. In Arabic, peace is سَلام (salam), and in Spanish, it is paz. Peace is often discussed in the context of peace treaties, peacebuilding, and peacekeeping efforts, which aim to resolve conflicts and create sustainable harmony between individuals, groups, or nations. The concept of peace can be personal, such as inner peace or peace of mind, or it can be collective, such as peace within a community or peace between countries.
