Oxssi

Oxóssi (pronounced "oh-SHOSS-ee") is an Orisha, or deity, in the Yoruba religion of West Africa and in the African diasporic religions, such as Candomblé, Umbanda, and Santería. He is often associated with the hunt, the forest, and the ability to provide for oneself and one's community. Oxóssi is typically depicted as a skilled hunter, carrying a bow and arrows, and is known for his wisdom, intelligence, and resourcefulness. In some traditions, he is also associated with commerce and wealth. The name "Oxóssi" is derived from the Yoruba language and does not have a direct translation in Hebrew or other languages, but his attributes and roles are recognized and revered in various cultures. In Candomblé and other Afro-Brazilian religions, Oxóssi is often syncretized with Saint Sebastian, a Christian martyr known for his perseverance and strength. His followers often seek his guidance in matters of survival, sustenance, and strategic planning.
