Nguyễn Huệ, also known by his posthumous title Quang Trung, was a Vietnamese emperor who ruled between 1788 and 1792. He is renowned for his military genius and his brief but impactful reign, during which he implemented significant political and social reforms. Nguyễn Huệ is often remembered for his role in unifying Vietnam and repelling Siamese invasions. In Vietnamese, his name is written as Nguyễn Huệ, and he is also referred to as Quang Trung Hoàng Đế (光中皇帝), meaning "Emperor Quang Trung." In Chinese, he is known as 阮惠 or 光中帝. His reign marked a pivotal era in Vietnamese history, characterized by centralized governance and a focus on Confucian principles. Nguyễn Huệ's legacy continues to be celebrated in Vietnam, where he is revered as a national hero and a symbol of resistance against foreign invasions.
