The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory suggesting the existence of a covert group that seeks to establish a worldwide totalitarian dictatorship. The term itself is often used to refer to a hypothetical future world order based on the enforcement of unity, global governance, and a single-world culture, often involving the suppression of national sovereignty, local and regional cultures, and individual liberties. In Hebrew, it is known as סדר עולמי חדש (Seder Olami Chadash). The concept has been explored in various forms of media and literature, often portraying it as a nefarious plot by a secretive elite. The term gained prominence in the late 20th century, particularly following its use by U.S. President George H.W. Bush in a 1990 speech, where he referred to a post-Cold War era of global cooperation. However, the phrase has been widely adopted and misinterpreted by conspiracy theorists who allege that a powerful and secretive cabal is manipulating global events to consolidate power. The New World Order is often associated with other conspiracy theories, such as those involving the Illuminati, the Bilderberg Group, and the United Nations. In Spanish, it is referred to as Nuevo Orden Mundial, and in French as Nouvel Ordre Mondial.
