MKUltra

MKUltra was a secret program of experiments on human subjects, designed and undertaken by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The program, which ran from the early 1950s through the late 1960s, was intended to develop mind control techniques and explore the potential use of chemical and biological agents, including LSD and other drugs. The name is derived from its budget line, "MK Ultra," which was a code name for research into chemical interrogation and mind control. In Hebrew, it is known as MKUltra (מ.ק.אלטרה), and in French, it is referred to as MKUltra or Projet MKUltra. The program engaged in illegal activities, including the use of unwitting human subjects, and was officially halted in 1973. Much of the documentation related to MKUltra was deliberately destroyed in 1973 by order of then-CIA Director Richard Helms, which has contributed to the ongoing mystery and speculation surrounding the program's full scope and impact.

MKUltra
MKUltra was an illegal human experimentation program designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used during interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. The term MKUltra is a CIA cryptonym: "MK" is an arbitrary prefix standing for the Office of Technical Service and "Ultra" is an arbitrary word out of a dictionary used to name this project. The program has been widely condemned as a violation of individual rights and an example of the CIA's abuse of power, with critics highlighting its disregard for consent and its corrosive impact on democratic principles.
