Lunar Gateway

The Lunar Gateway, also known as the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway (LOP-G), is a planned small space station in lunar orbit intended to serve as a multi-purpose outpost. It is a critical component of NASA's Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and eventually to Mars. The Gateway will serve as a staging point for lunar surface missions, a hub for scientific research, and a testbed for deep space technologies. It is planned to be assembled and operated through international cooperation, with contributions from NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), and other potential partners. The Gateway's modular design allows for the addition of new components over time, including habitation modules, science laboratories, and propulsion systems. The project is part of a broader international effort to establish a sustainable human presence in lunar orbit and on the Moon's surface. In Hebrew, the Lunar Gateway is referred to as שער הירח. In Japanese, it is known as 月周回軌道プラットフォーム・ゲートウェイ (Gekushūkai Kido Puratofōmō Gētowei), and in French, it is called Porte lunaire.
