Kuafu

Kuafu (Chinese: 夸父; pinyin: Kuāfù) is a mythical giant in Chinese mythology known for his extraordinary strength and his pursuit of the sun. The name Kuafu translates to "Boastful Father" in English, reflecting his legendary boastfulness and ambition. In Hebrew, the name can be transliterated as קואפו, though there is no direct translation. In Japanese, he is known as カーフー (Kāfū), and in Korean, he is referred to as 과부 (Gwabu). According to the myth, Kuafu challenged the sun to a race, attempting to catch it. Despite his immense strength and determination, he ultimately perished from exhaustion and thirst. His story symbolizes the human struggle against insurmountable odds and the consequences of unyielding ambition. The tale of Kuafu is recorded in ancient Chinese texts such as the Shan Hai Jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas), a compilation of mythical geography and legends from ancient China.
