Kartikeya, also known as Murugan, Skanda, and Subramanya, is a Hindu deity considered the god of war, victory, and wisdom. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati and is primarily worshipped in Southern India, Sri Lanka, and among Tamil communities around the world. In Hebrew, Kartikeya can be translated as קרטיקיה. In Tamil, he is known as முருகன் (Murugan), in Malayalam as സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ (Subrahmanya), and in Telugu as సుబ్రహ్మణ్యుడు (Subrahmanyudu). Kartikeya is often depicted with a peacock as his mount and a spear called the Vel in his hand. He is celebrated for his role in defeating the demon Tarakasura, thereby restoring peace and order in the universe. Kartikeya is particularly revered in the Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions, and his worship is deeply rooted in the cultural and religious practices of the regions where he is prominently worshipped.
