Karna

Karna (Sanskrit: कर्ण, IAST: Karṇa) is a central figure in the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata, known for his generosity, valour, and tragic fate. The name Karna translates to "ear" in Sanskrit, reflecting his birth as the first-born son of the Sun God Surya and Kunti, who gave birth to him before her marriage. Karna is often depicted as a formidable warrior and archer, and his complex character embodies themes of loyalty, fate, and divine justice. In Hebrew, Karna can be transliterated as קארנה. In other languages, Karna is known as Karna in Bengali, Karna in Hindi, and Karna in Tamil. Born to Kunti and Surya, Karna was abandoned at birth due to societal norms and raised by a charioteer, Adhiratha. Despite his humble upbringing, Karna's skills and charisma earned him the kingdom of Anga and the title of Angaraj (Lord of Anga). His unwavering friendship with Duryodhana, the crown prince of Hastinapura, and his ensuing enmity with the Pandavas, particularly Arjuna, form a significant narrative of the Mahabharata. Karna's tragic fate, dictated by his past actions and divine curses, culminates in his death at the hands of Arjuna during the Kurukshetra war, making him one of the most poignant and discussed characters in Hindu mythology.
