Hermetic Order

A Hermetic Order is a secret society or esoteric organization that is based on the principles of Hermeticism, a philosophical and spiritual tradition based primarily upon writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus. These orders often focus on the study and practice of alchemy, astrology, theurgy, and other esoteric arts, aiming to achieve spiritual enlightenment, self-transformation, and the understanding of the divine. The term "Hermetic" is derived from the Greek god Hermes, who was equated with the Egyptian god Thoth, a deity associated with wisdom and writing. In Hebrew, the term can be translated as סדר הרמטי (Seder Hermati). Notable Hermetic Orders include the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which was influential in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and had a significant impact on the development of Western esotericism. Other relevant translations include Orden Hermético in Spanish and Ordre Hermétique in French.
