Greek salad

Greek salad, also known as Horiatiki (Greek: Χωριάτικη, pronounced [xoɾˈjatiki]), is a traditional Greek salad made with pieces of tomatoes, cucumber, onion, feta cheese, and olives. It is commonly seasoned with salt, oregano, and olive oil. The salad may also include green bell pepper slices. Greek salad is widely popular in Greece and internationally, often served as a meze or a light lunch. The name "Horiatiki" translates to "villager's salad" in Greek, reflecting its rustic origins. In Hebrew, it is known as Salat Yavanit (סלט יוונית). Similar salads exist in other Mediterranean cuisines, often with variations in ingredients and dressing. For instance, in Italy, a comparable salad is called Insalata Greca, and in Spain, it might be referred to as Ensalada Griega.
