This practice assigns numerical values to Hebrew letters, which are then used to find hidden meanings or connections between words, phrases, and concepts. Gematria is a significant part of Jewish tradition and has been used for centuries in various forms of Jewish scholarship, including Kabbalah. It is also found in other cultures and languages, such as Arabic (known as ʿilm al-ḥurūf or ʿilm al-jummal) and Greek (known as isopsephia).
