Fedor Apraksin

Fedor Apraksin (Russian: Фёдор Матвеевич Апраксин, tr. Fyodor Matveyevich Apraksin; 1661 – 1728) was a Russian statesman and military commander who served under Peter the Great. He was a prominent figure in the Great Northern War and played a significant role in the establishment of the Russian Navy. Apraksin's name is often associated with the foundation of the Russian Baltic Fleet and the development of the port city of Saint Petersburg. In Hebrew, his name can be transliterated as פדור אפרקסין. In Finnish, he is known as Fjodor Apraksin, and in Swedish, he is referred to as Fjodor Apraksin. Apraksin's contributions to the Russian military and naval forces were instrumental in Russia's rise as a major European power during the early 18th century.
