Etheric plane

The etheric plane, also known as the etheric realm or etheric dimension, is a concept originating from esoteric and metaphysical traditions, particularly within Theosophy and Anthroposophy. It is described as a subtle plane of existence interpenetrating physical reality, composed of a finer, more rarefied substance often referred to as "ether" or "life force." This plane is believed to be the blueprint or template for the physical world, containing the vital energies that animate and sustain all living things. In Hebrew, the term can be translated as המצב האתרי (hamatzav ha'etri). In Sanskrit, it is sometimes associated with the concept of आकाश (ākāśa), one of the five elements in Hindu philosophy, representing space or ether. The etheric plane is often depicted as a luminous, web-like structure that connects all living beings and is said to be perceptible to those with clairvoyant abilities. It plays a significant role in various spiritual and mystical practices, where it is believed to be a bridge between the physical and higher spiritual dimensions.

Etheric plane
Theosophical philosophical concept
The etheric plane is a term introduced into Theosophy by Charles Webster Leadbeater and Annie Besant to represent the subtle part of the lower plane of existence. It represents the fourth [higher] subplane of the physical plane, the lower three being the states of solid, liquid, and gaseous matter. The idea was later used by authors such as Alice Bailey, Rudolf Steiner, Walter John Kilner and others.
