Bible numerics, also known as biblical numerology or sacred numbers, refers to the study and interpretation of numbers within the context of the Bible. This practice involves assigning symbolic meanings to specific numbers that appear in biblical texts, often drawing from Jewish and Christian traditions. In Hebrew, this concept can be translated as misparim kdoshim (מספרים קדושים), which literally means "holy numbers." Similarly, in Greek, it may be referred to as arithmoi hieroi (ἀριθμοί ἱεροί). Key numbers in Bible numerics include three, seven, forty, and twelve, each carrying distinct symbolic significance. For instance, the number three often represents divine perfection or completeness, as seen in the Holy Trinity, while seven is frequently associated with spiritual perfection and completion, evident in the seven days of creation. The study of Bible numerics is deeply rooted in the belief that numbers are not merely quantitative but also qualitative, carrying divine messages and insights into the nature of God and the universe.
