Baked Potatoes

A baked potato, also known as a jacket potato in British English, is a potato that has been baked for eating. This preparation method, which dates back to the early 19th century, involves washing and piercing the potato with a fork to allow steam to escape, then baking it at a high temperature until the inside becomes soft and fluffy while the skin becomes crisp. In Hebrew, a baked potato is called תפוח אדמה אפוי (Tefach Adama Afui). In French, it is referred to as a pomme de terre au four, while in Spanish, it is known as a papa al horno. Baked potatoes are often served with various toppings such as butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, or chives. They are a popular side dish in many cuisines and can also be a main course when stuffed with ingredients like meat, vegetables, or beans. The simplicity of preparation and the versatility of serving options make baked potatoes a staple in many households.
