Astrology

An astrologer is an individual who practices astrology, the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world. The term is derived from the Greek word astrologia, which literally translates to "the speech of the stars." In Hebrew, an astrologer is known as מַזָּלָן (mazzalán), while in Spanish, the term is astrólogo, and in French, it is astrologue. Astrologers often create horoscopes, which are forecasts of a person's future based on the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the time of their birth. The practice of astrology is distinct from astronomy, which is the scientific study of celestial objects and phenomena. Astrologers may use various systems, such as Western tropical astrology, Vedic astrology, or Chinese astrology, each with its own set of traditions and methods. Throughout history, astrology has been used for divination, as a guide for decision-making, and as a tool for understanding personality traits and life events.

Astrology
Pseudoscientific divination based on the movements of the stars
Astrology is a range of divinatory practices, recognized as pseudoscientific since the 18th century, that propose that information about human affairs and terrestrial events may be discerned by studying the apparent positions of celestial objects. Different cultures have employed forms of astrology since at least the 2nd millennium BCE, these practices having originated in calendrical systems used to predict seasonal shifts and to interpret celestial cycles as signs of divine communications.
