Amun-Ra (also known as Ra-Amun or Amun-Re) was a major ancient Egyptian deity who combined the traits of two prominent gods: Amun and Ra. Amun was the god of wind and hidden forces, while Ra was the god of the sun and creation. The fusion of these two deities resulted in a powerful god who embodied the creative and life-giving aspects of the sun. Amun-Ra was often considered the king of the gods and was associated with the pharaoh, who was seen as his representative on Earth. The cult of Amun-Ra was centered in Thebes, where he was worshipped in grand temples such as Karnak. In Hebrew, Amun-Ra can be translated as אמון-רא. In other languages, he is known as Amón-Ra in Spanish, Ammon-Ra in French, and Amun-Re in German. Amun-Ra's significance waned during the Amarna Period when Akhenaten promoted the worship of Aten, but he regained prominence after Akhenaten's death and remained an important figure in the Egyptian pantheon until the decline of ancient Egyptian religion.
