The name Skogul is Old Norse and can be translated to Hebrew as סקוגול and to Icelandic as Skögul. Skogul is mentioned in several Old Norse texts, including the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, compiled by Snorri Sturluson in the 13th century. She is often associated with the goddess Freyja and is depicted as a fierce warrior maiden who aids Odin in the selection of the slain. Skogul's name is thought to derive from the Old Norse word skögull, meaning "shaker" or "storm," reflecting her role in the chaos and tumult of battle. In some interpretations, Skogul is also linked to the concept of fate and destiny, embodying the inexorable nature of war and the choices made by the Valkyries.
