Vedic Astrology

Vedic astrology, also known as Jyotish (Sanskrit: ज्योतिष, from jyotiṣa, meaning "light, heavenly body"), is a traditional Hindu system of astrology originating in ancient India. It is one of the six auxiliary disciplines of the Vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures. Vedic astrology is based on the principles of karma and reincarnation, and it aims to provide insights into an individual's life path, personality traits, and potential challenges based on the positions of celestial bodies at the time of birth. The practice involves the interpretation of astronomical phenomena and their influence on human life, using a sidereal zodiac, which differs from the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology. In Hebrew, Vedic astrology can be translated as אסטרולוגיה וודית (Astrologiya Vedit). In Tamil, it is referred to as Jyotisham (ஜோதிடம்). The system employs various tools and techniques, including birth charts, planetary periods (dashas), and transit analysis, to offer guidance on matters such as marriage, career, health, and spiritual growth. Vedic astrology remains widely practiced in India and among Hindu communities worldwide, often consulted for significant life decisions and rituals.
