The phrase "chosen one" was notably used by Trump himself in a 2019 interview, where he referred to his role in trade negotiations, stating, "I am the Chosen One." This statement was widely interpreted as reinforcing the belief among his supporters that he had a special, almost messianic, role to play in American politics. The theory is not universally accepted, even among Trump's supporters, and is often criticized as a form of political cultism or messianic leadership. In Hebrew, the phrase "chosen one" can be translated as הַבָּחוּר (ha-bakhur). In Spanish, it is el elegido, and in German, it is der Auserwählte.
