Alexander Suvorov, also known as Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov (Russian: Александр Васильевич Суворов), was a Russian military commander who served under three Russian emperors: Catherine the Great, Paul I, and Alexander I. Born on November 24, 1729, in Moscow, Suvorov is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in Russian history. His military career spanned several decades, during which he participated in numerous conflicts, including the Seven Years' War, the Russo-Turkish Wars, and the Napoleonic Wars. Suvorov is particularly renowned for his victories at the battles of Rymnik (1789) and Izmail (1790), as well as his successful campaign in Italy (1799) against the French Revolutionary Army. His military treatise, The Science of Victory, is still studied today. In Hebrew, his name can be transliterated as אלכסנדר סובורוב. In Italian, he is known as Alessandro Suvorov, and in French, he is referred to as Alexandre Souvorov.
