Scallion

A scallion, also known as a green onion or spring onion, is a type of onion (Allium fistulosum) harvested before the bulb fully matures. It is characterized by its long, flat, hollow green tops and small, white, partially developed bulb. Scallions are widely used in various cuisines around the world for their mild, onion-like flavor. In Hebrew, a scallion is called צירון (pronounced "tsiron"). In Spanish, it is known as cebolla verde, in French as oignon vert, and in German as Frühlingszwiebel. Scallions are often used as a garnish or added to dishes for a fresh, crisp flavor. They are commonly used in Asian, Middle Eastern, and Western cuisines, and can be eaten raw, cooked, or pickled.
