Prometheus is a figure from Greek mythology, known as a Titan who was credited with giving fire to humanity, an act which enabled progress and civilization. In Greek, his name translates to "forethought" (προμηθεύς, Promētheús). In Hebrew, he is referred to as פרומאתאוס (Promethaos). The Latin form of his name is Prometheus, which is also used in many Romance languages, such as French (Prométhée) and Italian (Prometeo). In German, he is known as Prometheus, and in Russian, he is called Прометей (Prometey). Prometheus is a central figure in the myth of the origin of humanity's knowledge of fire and its use for the benefit of humanity. He is also known for his punishment by Zeus, who chained him to a rock where an eagle (or vulture) ate his liver every day, only for it to regenerate overnight, leading to an eternal cycle of torment. This myth has been interpreted as a symbol of human striving against the forces of nature and the gods, as well as a cautionary tale about the consequences of defying divine authority.
This site lets you convert words, names, and phrases into numerical values using different gematria systems. You can use the main calculator gematria tool at the top of the page: type your text, choose a method, and press Convert.
