Planetary Deities

Planetary deities, also known as planetary gods or goddesses, are divine beings or spirits associated with celestial bodies in various mythologies and astrological systems. These deities often embody the characteristics and influences attributed to the planets they represent. In ancient Mesopotamian astrology, for example, each planet was associated with a specific deity, such as Nabu for Mercury or Ishtar for Venus. Similarly, in Roman mythology, planets were named after gods and goddesses, such as Mars for the planet Mars and Jupiter for the planet Jupiter. The concept of planetary deities is also found in Hindu astrology, where each planet is associated with a specific deity, such as Guru (Jupiter) or Shani (Saturn). In Hebrew, planetary deities can be referred to as אלוהויות כוכביות (elohut kotvayot). Other relevant translations include Dioses planetarios in Spanish, Dieux planétaires in French, and Planeten-Götter in German. These deities often play significant roles in mythological narratives and are believed to influence human affairs, natural phenomena, and personal destinies.
