Philippians 23

Philippians 2:3 is a verse from the New Testament of the Christian Bible, specifically from the Epistle to the Philippians, which is attributed to the Apostle Paul. The verse reads: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves" (New International Version). In Hebrew, this verse can be translated as: "אַל תַּעֲשֵׂה דָבָר מִשּׁוּם תַּאֲוַת אוֹ מִשּׁוּם רִיקָן. אֶלָּא בְּעֲנָוָה, חֲשֹׁב אֶת אַחֵרִים כְּגָדוֹל מִמְּךָ" (Philippians 2:3). In Greek, the original language of the New Testament, it is written as: "Μηδεν κατ' ἐριθειαν ποιειτε μηδε κατ' κενodoxian, αλλα τῃ ταπεινοφροσυνῃ ἀλλήλους ἡγεουμένους ὑπερέχοντas ἑαυτῶν" (Philippians 2:3). This verse emphasizes the importance of humility, selflessness, and considering others' needs and interests above one's own. It is part of a larger passage (Philippians 2:1-11) that encourages unity, humility, and Christ-like behavior among believers. The context of the verse is Paul's exhortation to the Philippians to live in harmony and to model their lives after the humility and obedience of Jesus Christ, who, according to the passage, emptied Himself and took the form of a servant (Philippians 2:5-8).
