John 3:16

John 3:16 is a widely recognized verse from the New Testament of the Bible, found in the Gospel of John. It is often considered a summary of the Christian gospel and has been widely referenced in religious discussions, sermons, and evangelism. The verse reads: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." In Hebrew, this verse can be translated as "כי כך אהב אלוהים את העולם, עד כדי שהוא נתן את בנו היחיד, כדי כל מי שמאמין בו לא יאבד, אלא יקבל חיים נצחיים." The verse is part of a conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council. Jesus explains the necessity of being born again (or born from above) to see the Kingdom of God, and John 3:16 encapsulates the divine motivation behind this spiritual rebirth. The verse is also notable for its theological implications, emphasizing God's love, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the promise of eternal life through faith. Translations of this verse in other relevant languages include "Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna" in Spanish and "Car Dieu a tant aimé le monde qu'il a donné son Fils unique, afin que quiconque croit en lui ne périsse point, mais qu'il ait la vie éternelle" in French.
