Ix Chel is a Mayan goddess associated with the moon, fertility, medicine, and weaving. Her name translates to "Lady Rainbow" in the Yucatec Maya language. In Hebrew, this can be approximated as גברת קשת (Geveret Keshet). In Spanish, she is known as Ixchel, and in French, she is referred to as Ixchel or Déesse de la Lune (Goddess of the Moon). Ix Chel is often depicted as an old woman with a serpent headdress or a young, beautiful woman, reflecting her dual role as a creator and destroyer. She is frequently paired with the sun god Itzamná and is considered a patron of weavers and doctors. Her worship was widespread among the Maya, particularly in centers like Isla de las Mujeres (Island of Women) off the coast of Yucatán, where she was venerated as a goddess of childbirth and medicine.
