Ivan Stepanovich Konev (28 December 1897 – 21 May 1973) was a Soviet military commander who led Red Army forces on the Eastern Front during World War II, taking part in major battles such as the Battle of Stalingrad, the Battle of Kursk, the Vistula-Oder Offensive, and the Battle of Berlin. After the war, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Occupation Zone in Germany and later as Commander-in-Chief of the Warsaw Pact forces. Konev is often remembered for his strategic prowess and significant contributions to the Soviet victory in World War II. In Hebrew, his name is translated as איוואן קונב. In Russian, his name is written as Иван Степанович Конев, and in Polish, it is Iwan Koniew.
