Israel Gematria

Israel gematria, also known as gematria or gimatriya (Hebrew: גימטריא), is a form of Jewish mysticism that involves the numerical values of letters in the Hebrew alphabet. The practice is based on the belief that words or phrases with the same numerical value bear some relation to each other or to the concept that number represents. This system is used to find connections between words and concepts in the Hebrew Bible and other Jewish texts. The term gematria is derived from the Greek word geomantria, meaning "earth divining," but its practice is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition. In Hebrew, the word gematria is often used interchangeably with gimatriya. The practice is also known as notarikon when dealing with acronyms and temurah when dealing with letter substitutions. Gematria is a significant part of the Jewish mystical tradition known as Kabbalah, particularly in the medieval period. It has been used for various purposes, including biblical interpretation, theological speculation, and even in modern contexts for creating acronyms and wordplay in Hebrew.
