Indian Birth Chart

An Indian birth chart, also known as a Kundali (कुंडली) in Hindi and Sanskrit, or Janu (ജന്മനക്ഷത്രം) in Malayalam, is a graphical representation of the positions of the planets at the exact time and place of an individual's birth, as used in Vedic astrology. It is based on the sidereal zodiac and is calculated using the Nirayana system, which accounts for the precession of the equinoxes. The birth chart is divided into twelve houses, each representing different aspects of life, and is analyzed to gain insights into a person's personality, life events, and future prospects. The chart is typically cast using specific software or manual calculations based on the birth details provided. In Telugu, it is referred to as Jathakam (జాతకం), and in Tamil, it is called Jathagam (ஜாதகம்). The interpretation of the birth chart is a complex process that involves analyzing the positions of the planets, their aspects, and the houses they occupy, as well as considering various astrological combinations and yogas.
