Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, born on December 16, 1742, and died on September 12, 1819, was a Prussian field marshal who led his country's forces against Napoleon I of France during the Napoleonic Wars. Often referred to as "Marshal Forward" due to his aggressive military tactics, Blücher is best known for his role in the decisive defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
