Fig

A fig is a sweet, pear-shaped fruit that grows on the Ficus carica, a small to medium-sized tree or large shrub native to the Middle East and western Asia. The fruit is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and has been cultivated since ancient times. In Hebrew, the fig is known as תאנה (te'enah). In Spanish, it is called higo, while in French, it is figue. The fig plays a significant role in various cultures and cuisines, often consumed fresh, dried, or in preserves. It is also used in traditional medicine for its potential health benefits, including its high antioxidant content and possible role in managing blood sugar levels.
